Predicanda “Prady” Vialpando, 78, of Rawlins passed away June 5, 2016. She was born May 7, 1938 in Amalia, NM to parents Estrella (Arellano) and Presentacion Gallegos. At her request, no formal services will be held.

Prady graduated the 10th grade, but she was a brilliant woman. Prady took care of the family finances all her life. She was known by her family for her immaculate housekeeping habits; we always knew to pick up after ourselves at grandma’s house. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to manage money and navigate professional and personal responsibilities. Essentially, she was an educator. Prady may not have had much in the way of formal education, but her life experiences transcended education.

Prady was a homemaker almost her entire life, though she did spend about ten months working for Childress electric as a secretary, which included managing finances which she was amazing at. She was also an amazing seamstress, which she at times took work from outside the home and was always trying to teach her granddaughters how to sew. She was responsible for raising four generations along with helping her beloved mother raise her brothers and sisters as she was the oldest of ten children. But even more than that, Prady was a grandma to the entire South Side of Rawlins. The extended family she helped raise stopped by to visit grandma up until the very end.

She was infinitely kind, caring and always knew the right thing to say when we would show up needing a shoulder to rely or cry on. Prady was patient beyond belief. Her kindness and patience shined through in all of her interactions. Her children and grandchildren will forever be indebted to her; she never turned her shoulder no matter how big or small our trials or tribulations may have been. We always knew we could run to grandma and she would have a kind word or if needed, a word of advice. She supported and stood by us through thick and thin, sometimes thicker than others. She loved to spend her summer evenings sitting out on her front porch watching the people and visiting with whomever passed by. When she was able to, she used to enjoy taking day trips or traveling to see family, especially her mother. She also enjoyed camping every summer with her grandchildren up at Lincoln Park in the same spot for years and years.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ben Vialpando; children, Anthony Vialpando (Christie), Bridget Hall and Paul Vialpando; grandchildren, Toni Lynn Rodriguez and her 2 children, Micah and Caleb, Casey Vialpando (Steffanie) and his 2 children, Madison and Lilly, Kelly Montejano (Frank) and their 2 children, Frank Jr. (Kiko) and Jennica, Jeremiah Hall (Kellyann) and his 4 daughters, Ashley, Sarah, Shanti and Heidi, Amber Hall (Harrison) and her daughter, Alesia; she had the pleasure of helping raise four sisters and three brothers along with their families, Jenny Groll (Joe), Georgia and her daughter, Keri, Lis Dietrich (Monte), Beatrice Sather, Rudy Gallegos, Johnny Gallegos (Sue) and Willfred Gallegos, and several nieces and nephews and their families and children. She was cherished by all of her family near and far.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Estrella Arellano Gallegos; father, Presentacion “Jose” Gallegos; mother in-law, Beatrice Haas; her sister, Francis McPherson; infant sister, Patsy Gallegos; grandsons, Malachi Rodriguez and Angal Martinez; and nephew, Joshua Gallegos.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, as many of you know she was a very cherished woman.

Condolences may be sent to Ben Vialpando, 203 E. State St. Rawlins, WY 82301 or offered online at www.carboncountyfuneralhome.com.
