County track teams compete at Cheyenne

CHEYENNE – Montana Belford’s second-place in the girls’ 3,200-meter run highlighted the Rawlins High School track team’s performance at Friday’s Okie Blanchard Invitational at Cheyenne East.
Belford finished in 12 minutes, 51.15 seconds. Belford was also sixth in the 1,600 run (5:49.28).
Other girls’ standout performances came from Encampment junior McKenzie Powell, who was second in the 400 dash and Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow’s Haley Clark, who was third in the discus throw (101 feet, 7 inches).
Encampment freshman Paige Powell was fourth in the high jump (4-9).
On the boys’ side, Outlaws’ senior weight thrower Austin Tarango wound up fourth in the discus (115-8).
Saratoga’s Alex Ziegler was sixth in the 400 (54.45) and seventh in the 200 (24.6).
RHS freshman Damon Taylor finished fifth in the triple jump (39-9) and Rawlins’ 4x4 relay of Alex Moore, Bryar Goodwine, Brett Penman and Bryce Jerome wound up sixth (3:53.55).
Saturday, Saratoga, Encampment and HEM participated in the Guernsey-Sunrise Invitational.
Winning performances included Clark in the girls’ discus, Saratoga’s Ben Fairbanks in the boys’ 800 (2:20.27) and 1,600 (5:11.19) and Jeremy Detterer (3,200 in 10:55.69). Bradley Bifano was another Panthers’ winner in the high jump (5-9).
