Recent weeks have shown us that many Americans are feeling frustrated, angry and fearful. We feel out of control and out of ideas. And so increasingly, we are seeing a slew of images coming across our social media feeds that, if you are like me, make us want to simply shake our heads in wonder. Are people crazy? Has the world gone nuts? On the one hand, I wish to say well no, not exactly. People feel the need to somehow take control. And yet each day, the manner in which we see people exercising control is, if nothing else, self-defeating, maddening, and in many cases, simply (dare I say it?) idiotic.

So let me begin here by stating the obvious. The murder of George Floyd was beyond hideous. That’s a no-brainer. That being said, however, one must step back and ask, how did we go from that horrific act back in late May to events taking place today? What, if anything, does one thing have to do with the other?
